My biggest takeaway from therapy was how crucial the therapeutic relationship is; so much more work, growth, and healing can be done when you feel safe with your therapist, when you feel they really see you and understand you.

We have been taught to process emotions cognitively by rationalizing the 'why' of events. However, this doesn't calm our nervous system; it may have served us well at one point in our lives, but now could make the struggle to manage emotions harder.
