The State of Mental Health in Idaho
Idaho ranks 48th in the United States for mental healthcare, and this is a status that the Division of Behavioral Health is working to improve from. The state has been divided into seven regions with their own, publicly-funded, Regional Behavioral Health Centers (RBHC). These are community based and operated, intended to uniquely cater to the local communities which they serve. To improve accessibility, interpreters are made available for those with limited English speaking proficiency, as well as those who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired. These make it possible for often underserved communities to link up with a therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The goal of these RBHCs is to instill hope in those suffering from mental health illnesses, setting them on the road to recovery.
Idaho has consulted with research firms to receive an accurate analysis of their current state of mental health and, as a result, the State has been able to develop and implement programs that target their trouble areas. This includes the Youth Empowerment Services (YES) Project, and the Jeff D. Settlement Agreement, which work to make mental healthcare more accessible for children. The counselors and therapists that work with mentally troubled or emotionally disturbed youth assess their needs, their current community situations, and create a comprehensive plan for the best outcomes for the child. Continued training of therapists, counselors, and psychologists, ensures that Idahoans will be receiving high quality care, and their providers will be adopting best practices as the field continues to evolve.

I'm honest. I want to work with you, not for you, which means I often ask you to work on things when we aren't meeting so you can get the most out of this experience. I want to work myself out of a job and help you become the person you want to be.
I strive to encourage my clients to find something about themselves they haven’t noticed before.
