The State of Mental Health in New Jersey
New Jerseycurrently ranks 8th in the United States for mental healthcare. The Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), operating under the New Jersey Department of Human Services (NJDHS), is responsible for continuously improving upon their current mental healthcare system, and for providing the resources necessary to build resilience within their communities. The DMHAS determines the standard of care that all New Jersey residents can expect when they seek treatment from a licensed counselor or therapist.
Currently, the DMHAS has partnered with over 120 agencies and community partners to provide support and community-based prevention, early intervention, treatment, education and recovery services, including for at-risk and special populations. Through these collaborations, the DMHAS is hoping to improve upon accessibility in all phases of mental illness, from prevention, to treatment and recovery. The DMHAS ensures that all residents have access to the resources that promote their well-being and ability to prosper. This includes access to therapists, psychologists, and counselors throughout the state.
For assistance in navigating treatment for substance abuse, call the Delphi Health Group at 1-855-804-9468.
