James Wendell Perkins

I work to fix the conditions that cause anxiety, and depression while encouraging healthy connection. I support couples to strengthen relationships and work with individuals recovering from difficult relationships. I am able to provide a super”super bill” for clients that have “out of network insurance coverage. I am not “in network” with any providers.

I am here to help you to sort through the impossible messages you have been given about how you are supposed to be. Our work will help position you to reconnect with your internal spark and drive for life.

I strive to be skilled, thoughtful and humble in my practice. I hold you as the expert in your life and myself as the expert in troubleshooting.

I have a particular interest in dismantling shame. I love helping those who appear to function well, but struggle with depression, shame and anxiety. I have a wealth of experience working with ADHD, ASD, bipolar and neurodivergent brains.

I was called to this work at age 53 after three different careers. My life and my own experience helps to foster rich insights in session. I practice a therapy called AEDP for those with a complicated past. I use EMDR for those who want to address a specific event.

I bring current knowledge of the most up to date practices. I dedicate 20% of my work week to research and supervision by leading experts in my field. When working with me you will benefit from the combine knowledge of several therapists each week.
