Maryann Mathai

My therapeutic approach is warm, trauma informed, relational, and experiential. My practice is centered on the belief that healing happens when your painful experiences are held with care and compassion. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, ptsd, or life changes, I am here to help. I specialize in helping survivors of trauma heal.

Together we will help you find your voice and heal from difficult relationships or overwhelming experiences. We will process emotions & memories and learn tools to eliminate symptoms and help you soothe. With curiosity & compassion, we will explore the parts of you that feel conflicted. I'll guide you as you reconnect with yourself and the world again.

warm, relational, attentive and attuned

I specialize in working with people who have endured verbal, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. I love working with folks who need to process the childhood memories holding them back from living freely and authentically in the PRESENT. I like working with people who need to learn to trust themselves again.

I became a therapist because I grew up in a culture (South Indian) that stigmatized mental health. I had members of my family who needed proper therapy and did not have access to it. I chose to become the kind of therapist my Asian community and family needed.

I find that being primarily Telehealth helps us be extra attentive and attuned to what's happening in session. This is important for trauma survivors as they've been cut off from their bodies and experiences for so long. It often feels "safer" for folks with trauma histories to be in the comfort of their homes while we process difficult topics.
