Louise Houchin

I use a relational and collaborative style and a combination of evidence-based, trauma-informed cognitive-behavioral therapy, expressive arts, somatic approaches, internal family systems, and mindfulness-based techniques to connect you with your body, mind, and spirit. I use a psychodynamic lens to track where issues may appear in the family system. ​

We will talk about your life in a curious manner, as if we are wayfinders, navigating your current path by knowing where you have come from, and making steps toward where you would like to go by having a solid understanding of your foundation.

My clients would describe me as warm, funny, and approachable. I live my life as I conduct myself in practice-by always remaining curious about myself, others, and the world around me. By modeling empathy, compassion and love, I try to "be the light" that I want to see in the world.

I often work with people who wish to better understand themselves, building on their strengths, while exploring their challenges. I work relationally, and I offer a space where you can express yourself freely and authentically, while building a sense of self-compassion and curiosity.

I became a therapist because I absolutey love learning about people and what makes them tick or what lights them up! I am a lifelong artist who values self-expression, whether that be through music, art, words, dance, theater, or your style of surfing. I have heard thousands of life stories, and will never tire of hearing about how people navigate life!

We all come into life with a certain set of skills and challenges. I look at these challenges as areas that just need a little light shined on them. I love helping people understand these areas and to navigate them in healthy ways while being true to themselves. There are all kinds of ways to do it! Let's find some ways that work for you.
