Emily Brinkerhoff

I work primarily with children and families navigating anxiety, grief and loss, emotional outbursts, and major life transitions. Using Child-Centered Play Therapy, I provide a supportive space where children can express themselves through play, build emotional regulation, and grow in confidence.

My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and especially playful when working with children. I’m not interested in forcing people into a particular mold or rushing them toward a predetermined version of “better.” I want to understand your world, meet you where you are, and support you in discovering what works for you.

I specialize in working with children and the caregivers who love them. I genuinely delight in children—their humor, creativity, big feelings, and unique ways of seeing the world. I want kids to feel that they are worthy and wonderful exactly as they are, while helping parents better understand and support them.

I became a therapist because I believe we all need support sometimes—even when we’re knowledgeable, thoughtful, and doing our best. Parenting can be especially hard, with endless advice and no one-size-fits-all answer. I love helping parents feel understood, supported, and more confident in understanding their child.

My play space is intentionally warm, welcoming, and full of opportunities for creativity and connection. I bring curiosity and acceptance to my work with parents, helping families better understand one another and find what works for them. I also benefit from collaborating with other professionals to better support children and caregivers.
