My clients describe me as:
Warm, open, and kind. I am genuinely curious about people’s lives and enjoy helping people find their strengths.
Something to know about my approach is:
My key values are social justice, curiosity, and empowerment. I bring these values to my life, and to counseling, through feminism (analyze power structures), existentialism (look for meaning) and narrative therapy (deconstruct society's narratives).
Together, we will:
Get to know each other, and discuss whatever is on your mind. We will set goals together, and determine the best way to achieve those goals together. Therapy is about you. You get to decide how you want to live, and I'll just be there to help.
I specialize in working with people who:
Are coming out of trauma and want to understand it, heal from it, and grow into their new empowered identities. I also work with people for anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-esteem, and self-exploration related to career guidance and sexuality identity
I became a therapist because:
I am a IPV/Domestic Violence survivor. I went to support groups at a DV advocacy agency, years later I volunteered to run those groups and loved it
Something that stands out about where I offer therapy is:
It can be anywhere you want! Well, in a safe and private area where you feel comfortable. :)
More about me and my practice:
Social justice is important to me personally, and frames how I work as a counselor. I advocate through political demonstration and involvement, I advocate for clients, and I teach clients to advocate for themselves. My peers nicknamed me AdvoKate. :)
