I lived in countries with different languages, faiths, races. I learned to appreciate differences and the pain of exclusion. I’ve navigated realities of illness, including cancer. They shape how I sit w/ others—humility, presence & respect for each person’s unique path through suffering & the search for meaning amid the often-insensitive world we live in.
