Recording a great therapist video is easier than you think. The best videos are just a version of the way you’d start a relationship any new client, by first introducing yourself, giving them a background of your experience and qualifications, and then by letting them know how you can help them.
Some practical considerations exist as well. Many clients are searching for therapists on their phones, which means vertical video formats are best. Clients also have a fairly short attention spans when exploring therapists, which means that your video doesn’t have to be too long and in depth.
Practical tips for shooting a video
- Videos should be about a minute long, and no longer than 90 seconds.
- Using your smartphone is fine.
- Make sure you are well-framed in the video, meaning that you’re centered in the video
Tips for video content and tone
- About 1 minute
- Covers this information in this general order,
- Introduction, “Hi, I’m…”
- Clients I support well are…
- My training and specialties are…
- My goal for my clients is to feel / achieve…
- Vertical format, with a stable camera angle, e.g. not a handheld selfie, it needs to be well lit & with a clear sound
- Vibe is as if you were talking to a client sitting in your office for the first time
- Background is a professional space
