Charles Smith

I'm Charles Smith, a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Ascend Counseling & Therapy Services. I work with students, adults and families navigating anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, life transitions, substance use and abuse, relationship concerns, cultural identity, men's issues, and spiritual integration.

On your therapy journey, we will use personalized, evidence-based counseling to help you understand how distorted perceptions and thoughts can contribute to painful feelings and unwanted behaviors. We also build practical skills you can use daily to manage stress, improve relationships, and create meaningful change.

I strive to ensure that my clients view me as compassionate, trustworthy, and supportive. They appreciate my calm, nonjudgmental approach, ability to listen with empathy, and the practical guidance that I provide. It is important that my clients feel heard, respected, and encouraged as we work together toward healing, personal growth, and meaningful change.

After almost 20 years as a social worker I changed careers to become a therapist because I am passionate about helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, career transitions, cultural identity, and other life challenges.
