PRIYA PULIYAMPET

I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective to examine and explore relational patterns and how they affect your view of yourself and others. I also draw from AEDP to deepen and stay with emotions, and DBT to help regulate emotions when they feel overwhelming. I approach this work through a feminist, anti-oppressive lens.

In our work, we'll define the difficulties you're facing, develop a collaborative treatment plan, and begin addressing what feels most pressing. As our relationship deepens, we'll explore patterns that may be harder to see—like shutting down, adapting to others, or hiding your needs.

...live between multiple identities. Whether as first-/second-generation immigrants, as the queer kid in our middle school class, or when leaving a high-demand religion. We become so focused on figuring out what other people want that adapting can feel safer than risking rejection, or we shut down, pushing our own needs away.

I found myself drawn to people who were coming up against the seams of the boxes they felt put in. I became curious about how the very differences that can leave someone feeling alienated can also become a source of perspective and self-understanding when they have enough support to trust their own experience.
