You are the expert on your own life. I pay close attention, and I notice when your body has gotten ahead of your thinking, because those two need different help. Some sessions we sit in the hard part together. Others we build the skill that makes next week easier. I read constantly about trauma and neurodivergence and bring back whatever is useful to you.

Look at the stories you have been carrying about yourself and sort out which ones are actually true. I will ask a lot of questions, and I will push gently once you are ready for it, because the shift usually sits just past the comfortable part. You will build skills you can use outside this room, and we will say out loud when they start working.

Validating, compassionate and transparent. Clients tell me they can say the unedited version here, and that I am honest with them without it stinging. Supervisors have told me I reach the clients other people find hard to reach, which is the best compliment available in this work. I will sit in the quiet with you when that is what the moment needs.

Are neurodivergent, have lived through trauma, or belong to a community that has spent years explaining itself to people. ADHD and autism are central to what I do; I hold an ADHD certification and have led trainings on trauma. I have worked in schools and in a child abuse prevention agency, so very little of what you bring will be new to me.

Some people spend years being told to try harder before anyone stops to ask what is actually happening in their nervous system. That gap is why I do this work. Trauma and neurodivergence are not abstractions to me. Watching someone hear their own pattern named out loud for the first time is still the best part of my week.

First sessions can feel like an interview, so I tell you what is coming and let you set the pace from there. Outside of work I read, cook and train, and those turn up in session when they are useful. I see clients in the evenings and on weekends and I am usually scheduling one to two weeks out. You do not need to arrive organized.
