Valerie Rosen

I'm interested in you as an individual human being with a mind, rather than a diagnosis. I try to understand your problems in the context of your history, your family background, and your cultural identity. As a relational therapist, I want us to recognize different aspects of your self, and learn how your expectations of people affect your relationships.

My goal is to help you know yourself better and take better care of yourself. It's important to me to be culturally responsive, an LGBTQ ally, and neuroaffirming. I hope our work will help you gain trust and intimacy in your relationships. You will feel safer with your emotions, and have the wisdom and courage to try new things that will help you grow.

I take a warm, active, and collaborative approach to therapy sessions. Patients may describe me as funny, accepting, and a little more informal than many therapists. I hope they find I am open to feedback and use it to help us learn more about what's happening in their other relationships, while owning my contributions to our dynamic.

Much of my experience has been working with university populations, including undergraduate, graduate, international, and non-traditional students, as well as faculty and staff. I also see many people working in the arts and non-profit sectors, but I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds.
