I try to be calm, thorough, and curious during session. My guess is most clients would describe me as even-keeled and inviting.
I work hard to create a safe and open therapeutic setting that challenges clients to explore deeply what is uniquely important to them, and then working together to implement changes to drive their life more in line with these values.
At the onset we look at the client(s) goals and create a plan that will likely accomplish those goals. In couple therapy I emphasize acceptance and change together usually through establishing strong emotional connections.
The couch has received much praise for comfort, though it can also be hard to get up from afterwards!
I enjoy working with clients ages 15+ who are struggling with relationship distress, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and a variety of other issues. My areas of special interest are couple therapy, acceptance-based, existential, and assessment.
