My clients describe me as:
Knowledgeable and easy to connect with. I care deeply about my clients and use my expertise to help people reach a state of wellness.
Something to know about my approach is:
My therapeutic approach rests on evidence-based practice. Given my strong scientific background in neuroscience and psychology this means that I will rely on treatments and psychological interventions whose efficacy is based on scientific evidence.
Together, we will:
Work on real empowerment, meaning, and growth. We will start by identifying what hurts, find the thoughts, behaviors, and environmental factors that trigger or alleviate the hurt, and incorporate new skills and abilities that lead to health.
I specialize in working with people who:
have anxiety disorders, major depressive disorder, bipolar I and II disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychosis/schizophrenia, substance-use disorder, chronic physical pain, relationship difficulties, and personality disorders.
I became a therapist because:
My interest in psychotherapy arose during my practicum in psychiatry while in medical school and solidified during my research on stress and anxiety.
Something that stands out about where I offer therapy is:
Our office is a beautiful old home in Mt. Auburn that manages to feel simultaneously grand and cozy.
More about me and my practice:
My first language is Portuguese, and I come from a multinational family with close relatives living in Brazil, Europe, and the USA. Clinical Psychology is my third doctorate! I attended medical school in Brazil and have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience.
