Know That You Are Not Alone.

Let’s talk about it…Breaking the stigma of mental illness and related treatments.

Do you feel alone even when other people surround you?

Do you consider yourself successful but still struggle with happiness?

Have you experienced a significant loss or challenging life transition?

Whether you suffer from a mental illness or just a temporarily difficult time, you could benefit from mental health therapy. Some people have suffered in silence their whole lives. Others have faced terrible loss or trauma, resulting in a significant mood shift. Fear of judgement has prevented so many people from getting treatment to help improve their mental health and overall quality of life, furthering the severity of their mental state.

The rates of suicide have been on the rise. Sometimes society portrays mental illness as a weakness while sometimes accepting an emotion like anger to be considered a strength. Anger is an emotion that often covers up other emotions like sadness, embarrassment or frustration. Sometimes our feelings are minimized by others, and we feel unsupported and alone. It’s important to know that you are not alone, nor do you need to continue to suffer.

Many modalities are used in mental health therapy and treatment can be molded to the clients needs and goals based on the therapist’s expertise. Finding a therapist you feel connected with is significant for the therapeutic relationship and your success in treatment. Research shows that the best form of treatment for mental health is often a combination of medication and therapy. This does not mean that everyone has to receive both to feel relief, as some do well with treatment or cure alone.

If you struggle with your mood or have a challenging time in life, I encourage you to talk to your doctor about the best treatment for you. There are many directories online, such as Mental Health Match, to search for a mental health provider should you be interested in therapy. Remember, it’s okay to not be okay and to seek help in your time of need.

*Should you be in crisis call, text or chat with the suicide crisis hotline at 988. There are counselors available 24/7 to assist.
