Group therapy is a form of therapy in which a therapist works with a group of people at the same time. Therapy groups can contain anywhere from 3 people to 15 people. Group therapy sessions usually last between one and two hours.
Group therapy gives you a chance to learn from other people like you. Participants are often peers of similar backgrounds who help each other grow. Group therapy participants also receive and offer support to others who are in similar situations. Whether it’s grief, anxiety, depression, loneliness, or eating disorders — there can be a group for practically anything you’re struggling with.
Group therapy can be more affordable than individual therapy. Many people use group therapy to complement the growth they experience in individual therapy.
