For individual therapy sessions, you may be booked for one hour but there’s a segment of time called the “therapy hour” or “therapeutic hour” which can range from 45 to 55 minutes of that hour. That’s when your therapy session happens. The mental health counselor uses the extra time to jot down notes about your session, tidy up their office for the next patient, and take a break.
