#VoicesOfTherapy: Learning that I matter

Thinking about Therapy?
Take our quiz to see therapists who are a good match for you.

You know the secret to why therapists are good therapists….. They have/had their own therapist. I know shocking right. We are all imperfect human beings and have gone through our own struggles. The story doesn’t have to end there. We can overcome our struggles with a little patience, time, and the right support.

Therapy helped me grow my sense of self, increase my self-confidence, and provided me a space to explore who I fully am. Therapy was a safe space for me to test out my feelings/thoughts surrounding my identity, and my relationships with others. It was the one place where I mattered and learned for myself that I mattered.

My experience is what lead me to be a therapist and also gives me a boost in understanding how it feels to be in the other chair. I know it’s not easy to look inward or express your inward self. I can tell you that if you find the right therapist for you, then those things can become easier. Just know you have already shown courage in looking into therapy and encourage you to see it through.
