Clients should expect growth through their own work, and the ability to address sometimes difficult situations and material in order to advance from the good work done through therapeutic gains. Be willing to be uncomfortable to create what you want.

I use a direct, and affirming approach in order to address forward thinking and support clients in working toward meeting their goals. While it is necessary and significant to address the past, it is also essential to be able to move into the future.
Utilize mindfulness, empathy, creativity, and personal strengths as we collaborate to rewrite the story of your life - past, present, and future. You deserve a chance to be who you want to be.

What makes you, you is something we should embrace. There's no right way to "do therapy". We can figure out what works best for you, together.
Figure it out. That is our job! We know when to listen, and when to probe. We will support you on your path to closure, clarity, self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-reflection. Problem solving, strategies, healing or all of the above.

From the first session, we help you get clarity about how to move forward and start feeling better. We are smart, compassionate, thoughtful/active listeners. Ellen, David and I are experienced and use several modalities (CADC, EMDR, CBT, ACT, etc)
Together, we will help you understand yourself better: what you're made of, what you want, what you're good at, and what you need to do to grow into the person you want to become.

I have an eclectic approach; I use a lot of cognitive behavioral methods (examine unhelpful thinking habits) combined with psychodynamic exploration (family history) to make connections to current difficulties. I also tend to use humor.
Together we will explore how your emotions, relationships, past trauma or even addiction and how it affects everyday life. We will practice coping skills like grounding techniques, relaxation, exposure therapy, healthy communication and more.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to identify any negative thinking patterns and help to challenge those thoughts. We will work to identify healthy coping skills to manage what ever you are faced with.
