Therapy is a space where you can come and share anything, and everything, about your experiences with me.

The work we do in therapy is centered around managing stress, setting boundaries, practicing self-care, improving communication with your spouse, understanding the relational dynamics of your own family of origin, and developing healthy attachment.
My goal and hope in working together is two-fold. On the short term, I'd like to help you improve your mood, instill hope, and to ease any symptoms you may be experiencing related to depression, stress, anxiety, trauma and so forth.

My theoretic approach is based on the belief that you are the expert of your own life and is fully in charge of the counseling experience. By working together, you will learn the aspects of your life that you can control and what you cannot.

I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. Cognitive allows for confronting wrong thinking. Narrative deals with the stories we tell ourselves. Solution-Focused is goal-directed.

I love to incorporate non-traditional counseling techniques such as breathing techniques, food assessment, sleep assessments, etc. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
We will create a plan/roadmap; however, there will be plenty of flexibility to reevaluate where we are going, what is helping (and what is not) and how we measure progress. We will build a space that feels safe, hopeful, creative and practical.

I believe that learning and healing are best approached in a holistic way that recognizes the connection between our physical and mental health, our past and present, our culture, and our worldview/spirituality. I approach therapy as a partnership.
