This is my first article ever. My goal is to create a path for prospective clients to come my way by reading short articles written about my daily practice as a licensed clinical social worker.
So I felt the title “Here I am” from my belly, my intuition, and my brain because HERE I AM, Julie! Furthermore, as a prospective client is in the teletherapy “waiting room,” waiting for one’s first session, I believe “Here I am” also could resonate.
Both of us, therapist and client are choosing to be vulnerable when each of us commit to this initial engagement. I, as a therapist, too, have had feelings of being worried and curious about my initial meeting. I, as a client, have felt scared, confused and quite frankly, really sad when faced with meeting a new therapist.
HERE I AM is the easiest and simplest term, although loaded with emotion and thoughts… to express the experience one can feel when one comes face to face with one’s self.
For me, it is this first article.
