The Benefits of Rest and Selfcare
It seems that in today’s world being a GOAL GETTER means pushing yourself to higher and higher levels…always hustling and grinding. Taking time to rest and recharge is considered a waste of time and rather indulgent. Even worse when we take time off we tend to feel guilty. So we don’t even enjoy the time off because we are busy thinking about the things we could or should be doing.
Well….taking the time to rest and recharge daily, even for a few minutes actually results in us being more productive. This also results in improved physical and mental health because resting results in a decrease in stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol …. and taking some time to rest doesn’t have to cost anything!!
This weekend try some of these restful activities…. I know I will.
1-Take an early morning walk
2-Take a bath immersed in your favorite scented bubble bath
3-Sing out loud to your favorite songs
4-Watch a funny movie
5-Have a 5 minute hug fest with your friends and family
6-Meet up with your best girlfriends for a glass of wine, cup of tea, cup of coffee (you choose)
7-Get a massage
8-Journal about things you are grateful for
