How Many Sessions Do I Need?

2 minutes Written by Susie Baker

How many sessions you should have depends on your situation and what you feel you need to be supported. Therapy is so individualized, and we really strive to make it as personal as needed.

I have several clients that I see once a week for 45 minutes and that is enough for them. In other circumstances, I have clients that I see twice a week for 45 minutes. We also message each other in between live sessions to make sure they are supported.

It might be worth asking yourself “What type of support do I need?” You may also want to ask yourself, “How quickly do I want to achieve an outcome?” While therapists can’t promise perfection or outcomes in a set number of sessions, our understanding of what you desire to move forward in life can help us gauge how many sessions and how often you may need them.

Recent research has indicated that check ins with therapists via messaging throughout the week can have the same results of one 45-minute sessions a week (Caraballo, 2019). My platform and therapy style gives you all the tools you need to allow for messaging support in between live sessions to offer guidance in addition to our video or phone sessions that are scheduled each week.

I hope that you would reach out and share your story with me. Together, we can identify goals for therapy and discuss what options for scheduling and financial needs are available.

Best of Luck!
