Stress is our body’s way of responding to real or perceived threats, which is why learning to manage stress and relax is so important for our health. Chronic stress can have detrimental negative consequences for our body, mind, and spirit. And unfortunately, relaxing is becoming more and more difficult in our hectic lives. 

There are a few quick ways manage stress and relax that can do wonders for our physical and emotional well-being when practiced regularly. We suggest picking at least three items from the list below and start practicing today.

  • Avoid people and situations that stress you
  • Do deep breathing at least 3 times a day for 5 minutes 
  • Spend more time with supportive friends and family
  • Get a good night sleep each and every night
  • Work on better time management
  • Reach out to support systems
  • Get your feelings out
  • Eat healthy
  • Exercise daily 
  • Learn to say NO 
  • Keep daily gratitude journal
  • Practice positive self-talk
  • Avoid using drugs and alcohol to cope
  • Delegate and get help 
  • Set limits
  • Slow down and rest
  • Listen to relaxing music
  • Laugh often 
  • Do meditation and yoga
  • Keep a journal 
  • Go for a walk, preferably in nature
  • Take a bath with bubbles or Epsom salts
